May is gone
And once again, I forget to update for an entire month.. I'm working on it! Not that anyone's reading this, yet at least! Life has been hectic, and there are some big changes on the horizon!!!
Kitchen STILL isn't done, but we should have the new cabinet in this week, and then the backsplash done shortly after, and then it's DONE! Onto the deck... I think we've finally nailed down a general plan, we just need to get it down on paper, and then spend way too much money on materials and them we'll be right there! I'm hoping we can get it done in the next month so that we can actually enjoy it this summer, but I'm thinking that's a very lofty goal! One can hope though, right?
Jamie and I cancelled camping, and we went to Whistler with Holly instead, it was great! She cried a little bit when we went for (an overpriced) dinner, but other than that, she was really well behaved. Our little pup <3
Diabetes wise, I just had an appt yesterday. It went really well, my A1C is a litttttllee bit higher than I would like, but overall it's not bad, and I know I let it slack for a little while, because the next year is going to be so intense. I'm prepared though, it's what I gotta do!

Another month goes by!
Well well well.... So much time goes by! I keep saying I'm going to update this all the time, and then just never get around to it! So, what's happened in the last month? Not a whole lot actually! Vanessa's wedding was Friday and it was gorgeous! Perfect weather and a beautiful ceremony and reception!
I can't believe that our original plan was to start TTC... now! We have about a month and a half to go, and I am so excited. I'm terrified that I'm broken though and that I'll never get pregnant or be able to carry a baby, but I think I'm just a worrier! I have no way of knowing until we reach that point so fingers crossed that everything is fine and dandy at this point!
I got some bloodwork done last week and it still isn't posted! Hopefully it will be up tomorrow, I'm really hoping it's still as good as it was a few months ago!
Holly is doing wonderful, she is getting VERY furry and I'm going to have to spend some time stripping her out soon.
Housewise, everythings great. I can't believe we've been here a whole year (today!)... It went by so so fast! I'm excited to finish our kitchen, just waiting to hear from our neighbour regarding the kitchen cabinet, and if we don't hear from him soon, we'll need to go somewhere else I think! I want it done! Once that's done, all we really need is a backsplash and we're good!
Ugh, I dropped a chair on my toe at the wedding and it is massive and swollen and hurts like hell! I'm hoping it goes down soon, and I hope I don't lose my toenail!
I'll try to update sooner next time, maybe make it a official after Saturday bathtime thing again, that sounds like a good idea! If not, it looks like next time I'll be posting we'll just be back from camping, and I'll be 23 years old! Fun!

so, it's been a while...
Wow, time flies..
Let's start with the bad. After my Nana's surgery, she started having troubles breathing on Saturday. Things went downhill further from there, and she passed away on Monday night. I still can't believe she's gone, it was just way too soon. Before she went in for surgery we were talking about how 'easy' of a procedure it is, and then just bam, she's gone. I did the eulogy at her funeral, and although it was difficult, I think it showed what she meant to her family. I think it will really start to sink in come the holiday season. Crazy to think last time we had a good talk, she was talking about being excited about becoming a great grandmother... and now that will never happen. Crazy. Life is so short.
Ahh, as far as the kitchen goes - Not going so great. I went in and paid the deposit on February 16th, and they said it would be done in 2 weeks. Well, 4 weeks later they're finally ready, awesome. The install was scheduled for 8AM Friday morning and I was going to go into work about 30 minutes late so I could see the countertops, at least just a peek! By 9:30, they still weren't here so I assumed they were just running behind and I went to work. Jamie texted me at 10:30 asking if they were still coming so I gave them a call. I talked to the guy I've been dealing with and he said he was just about to call me. I guess as they were laying the laminate they discovered that the other sheet didn't match the dye lot of the sheet already laid. So they have to then go out and get another sheet, and THEN lay that, and THEN do the bevel edge and let that cure for a few hours. I have no idea why we weren't informed of this beforehand, because obviously if they hadn't even laid the laminate yet there would be no way they'd be there at 8AM on Friday. He says that it will likely be ready that afternoon so we go on that. He calls me around 2PM and says that they're done and look awesome, but that it's not a bad idea to wait overnight just to make sure that they've sat long enough and cured properly. Sucks to go another night without a kitchen (we'd already ripped out the old countertops and sold the old sink on Thursday), but at least I could be there to see the install so that sounded good.
We went to bed super early on Friday because he said they would be there right at 8AM... We're up at 7:30 on Saturday and still no one is here by 9:15. I get an email from the guy saying theres been a slight delay and they should be here ASAP. They show up around 10 and bring in the massive slab of countertop (L shaped). They also tell us that they forgot the piece next to the stove and it would have to wait until Monday - Weird but whatever. They get the piece into place, plop it down and.... it doesn't fit. The overhang is essentially on the inside of the cabinets. It looks like the guy who did the measure (the owner) wrote down the correct width for the bar top, and measured the total length of the countertop, but forgot to actually ADD the additional 12" to the sheet. BAHHHHHHH. So they cut the beautiful (incorrectly sized) countertop in half and haul it back out. It's looking like it will be midweek now... Hopefully. I'm excited to talk to the owner and see what they were thinking, come on now!
Anyways, I'm tired and tomorrow is Monday so it's bedtime for me (after a little bit more real housewives of OC) so I think I will end this here. Overall it's pretty negative, but things will be looking up soon. We booked a trip to Vegas June 18th-22nd and we will offically be starting to TTC on that trip! If everything works out perfectly we'll have a baby due mid March next year, right around this time actually - Crazy!!!
Lots more going on but I will update soon!

These are hard to title...
Well, we're half way through another week (little over half-way actually!!) and it's gone by pretty fast! This weekend was pretty good, although I don't really remember it! I know we didn't go to the Dog Park on Saturday because it was pouring! Actually Jamie went to his cousin's birthday party, and I went with my Mom to visit my Nana for her birthday, and to say good luck for her surgery. She underwent open heart surgery this morning to have an aortic valve replaced. My Mom and I visited this afternoon and the nurse said everything went great. She should be able to stand tomorrow, and out of the hospital in 5 days. It's crazy how advanced everything medical is. On a side note, as much as I would LOVE to be a nurse, hospitals make me QUEASY! It's funny coming from a diabetic who pokes herself several times a day, but I cannot see OTHER people's blood/ injuries. I was feeling pretty faint seeing all the IV's etc. I texted Jamie afterwards to tell him that I was glad that when we were going to have a baby, I would be the one to actually have it, not have to see it. I can deal with my own pain a lot better than seeing it happen to someone else! I would be that passed out husband on the floor of the delivery room if I was a man. Luckily Jamie has a strong stomach, (except for roller coasters) so I know he'll be just fine when that day comes!
What else is new, what else is new... OH, back to the weekend! I brought home Roxie on Saturday night, and had a bath before Jamie got home... It was some seaweedy Lush one, which turned the water a really pretty teal colour, howeverrrrr I wasn't crazy about all the seaweed floaties! Not my thing! It didn't soften my skin as much as the other ones too, boo :( Oh well, maybe I'll go back to one of my tried and true ones this weekend.
Kitchen reno is moving along nicely, we've chosen a colour called "Bella Noche"
I'm really excited for that, and especially for the integrated sink we will be getting! It will all be one piece, which will be AMAZING!!!! I'm attaching a photo of one I found off of a great blog online!
And lastly, we're using a bevel edge, which means our countertop will look like so:
The bevel edge also eliminates the need for seams in the corner which will look great! However, that doesss leave us with a seam by the sink, but the countertop guy has assured me it won't be noticeable, and not a problem with water!
And HOW DID I FORGET!! My A1C is at 6.0!!!!! One month ago it was 6.6, and the Dr encouraged me to get it to below 6.5, and now I'm at 6.0!! I have never been prouder. I wish I could avoid some of the lows I'm having, but it's all coming together finally!
Anywho, back to toddlers and tiaras. Goodnight!

Wednesday night updateee
Well, it's a Wednesday evening and I'm just watching some real estate intervention before bed, super exciting. I can't believe I forgot my Saturday update! I had my weekend bath on Friday night, which was wonderful, however somehow I stayed in the bathtub for 3 hours!!! No idea how I managed that... It was a nice bath though! Saturday morning we took Roxie and Holly to Tynehead for Molly's (the dog) birthday party, which was fun. It ended a little early due to an injury so we went to the Clayton dog park because it's fully fenced and I feel a little safer that way overall. The dogs were totally pooped afterwards, which was great. After that we had a few drinks and wandered over (on foot) to Memphis Blues... Some shrimp, cat fish and palm bays later we walked to the booze store and to Price mart before heading home. I love being so close to everything, we basically just have to walk through a park to get to everything! After we came home, we watched the Social Network which was okay, but I think it's a little overrated. Sunday was a decent day however now I completely forget what we got up to.. I know we headed off to the dog park as usual, and that we had our Sunday night roast and mashed potatoes, but I can't remember anything else we did! Oh well..
This week has been super busy for me at work, but we're already past the hump day, so the weekend is just on the horizon!! I'm working 1-9 tomorrow and we have the countertop measure getting done tomorrow morning. We're using a different company now, because they are able to do the integrated sink... I'm a little bit upset that we're not able to take advantage of Home Depot's 15% off sale, but I think that new sink will make such a huge difference... We still haven't picked out our new countertop yet, it is such a huge decision... And then there are backsplashes to think about, although I'm hoping we can settle on just white subway tiles, I like the clean simple sleek look of them! I love the 'stone' backsplashes but I just don't like that it's not easily cleanable!!
Anywho, aside from kitchen and work and dog, not much else is happening in life right now! My blood was amazing for well over a week (where my highest reading was 10.8) and sure enough the day after I mention to Jamie how great it's been it goes completely mental. It's been SO high lately, and I just don't get it... It's really frustrating when you do everything RIGHT, but yet it still doesn't work out. I'm so nervous for how it's all going to be when I'm pregnant, it's going to be just so hard with all the changing hormones... Oh well, as long as I'm testing every couple hours I'll be able to catch things before they get out of control... I can't get over how time consuming my diabetes has become! It used to be so 'easy'.. I would just test when I feel like it, and guesstimate on all my carbs and hope for the best... Now I'm testing 8-12 times a day, and writing down not only every insulin dose I give myself, but also everything I eat... This way the next time I eat it I can look back and see how the amount I took last time worked out. I'm really getting used to spending a good 5 minutes before every meal 'preparing'. Oh well, it could be much worse! It'll all be worth it in the end, and hopefully when I check my A1C in a few weeks, it'll be down a little bit more!
Okay, bedtime I think!
